Lucky by Rachel Vail

This girl has it all!   Her and her 4 best friends are planning an awesome graduation party until her mother loses her job and she can’t afford it, but her friends are still there for her.

I liked it up until the ending, I thought the end was kind of cheesy.

Drawing a Blank by Daniel Ehrenhaft

The book was very good and I thought the comics were very interesting.  The author left very intriguing cliffhangers.  The only thing is that it starts kind of slow at the beginning.

He’s With Me by Tamara Summers

A girl has a crush on her twin brother’s best friend and when he asks her to be his fake girlfriend she has to fake love.  Will a fake summer love change things?

I really love this book, I’ve read it seven times.  I think it’s really good (for girls and boys).

Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Lee Stewart

The kids in this book go on a mission after passing a ‘test’.  It was a good book because it has lots of action.  People who like Stormbreaker will like it!

Nick of Time by Ted Bell

Nick of Time took me to a whole other world filled with mystery, peril, and adventure.  Ted Bell made me scared when the character was scared, or excited when they were excited.  I loved the U boat and the WWII idea, but especially da Vinci’s time machine!  The ending made me want a sequel, the writing was so good!  fourstars.jpg

The Last Olympian by Rick Riordan

If you have ever read the “Harry Potter” series and you like them, then you will absolutely love these books (Percy Jackson and the Olympians).  I could read these books all day long.  But I could read “The Last Olympian” for the rest of my life! The book is the best of them all, and that is saying something.  I thought that this book wouldn’t be that good because of all of the battles that happened in the book because of the prophecy, but all of the battles were fantastic to read about. I actually could see Percy talking to Annabeth about strategy.  That is what is so fantastic about Rick Riordan; he makes you feel like you are in the book.  You know what else is so awesome about this book? It’s that stuff that happens in this book is so cool.  I think it would be cool to be like a half-blood.  I don’t think that I would like almost getting killed every day–that would be bad. I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone who likes to read. This book is a little bit long but every page is worth the time. These books are fantastic and I recommend them to everyone.  All in all, I would give this book a ten out of ten.  READ THIS BOOK!

Perfect by Natasha Friend

fourstars.jpg This book is about a girl that is forcing herself to throw up.  Also, her mom is not a big help to the problem because she is mostly in her room crying about her husband who died.  This book was really good because it shows if you get help it is much easier than before. Now you will be able to start living a normal life again.

The Nature of Jade by Deb Caletti

fivestars.jpg This book is about a teenage girl with panic disorder who copes with her disorder by watching the online elephant web cam at her zoo.  While watching the camera, she meets a boy raising his own son who has a deep secret.  The Nature of Jade was a well-written and intelligent novel.  I could relate to many things in the book, which made it an enjoyable read.

Night by Elie Wiesel

fivestars.jpg This book is about a Jewish boy and his dad who get taken to a ghetto, various death and concentration camps, and the boy barely survives.  It’s a true story. I thought the book was amazing.  It described things in such detail that it was unbearably sad.  The book was horribly intense, but I loved it.

The Contender by Robert Lipsyte

Alfred Brooks is the main character and is a high school dropout.  His parents both left him with his Aunt Pearl. Now he wants to become a boxer, but his trainer said first he has to be a contender.  I though this was a really good book.  I recommend this book to anyone who is interested in boxing, but even if you’re not, it’s still great to read.

On the Devil’s Court by Carl Deuker

fourstars.jpgThis book is about a boy who loves to play basketball, but he thinks that the only reason that he is good is because he thinks he has the devil in his soul.I thought that this book was good for many reasons. I like the author because I read another book by him.  I also like how the kid plays a sport, but the sport doesn’t really have to do anything with the plot.  This book takes place in Seattle.

Evil Genius by Catherine Jinks

fivestars.jpg This book is about an institute of evil, where a genius goes to learn how to be evil.  This book is evil! I actually thought it was very well written.

Teen Idol by Meg Cabot

Jenn Greenley is on the newspaper but she is the secret advice column writer.  A pop star comes to her school and she has to keep his identity a secret. It was very good.  The girl was quirky, she did fall head over heels for the pop star. It was nice to see that she could just control herself.

Perfect by Natasha Friend

fourstars.jpg This book is about a girl who is unhappy with herself so she turns bulimic, and her mother finds out and makes her go to “group.” I like d the book because it helped me realize that if I’m unhappy with my self I shouldn’t turn bulimic. It showed me the dangers of throwing up and how unhealthy it can be. It sends a good message and shows there are healthier ways to be more happy with yourself.

Madison Finn by Laura Dower

fourstars.jpg Madison Finn is fine until she gets elected for president when she doesn’t want to. She finds out it is not so bad after all.  I thought it was a good book.  It could use more detail.

How to Steal a Dog by Barbara O’Connor

fourstars.jpg1/2 There’s a girl who is homeless so she stole a dog and hoped the owner would put up a reward, but she didn’t and instead they became friends. I think the book was exciting when Georgina stole a dog and when she lived in an old house which was the dog owner’s grandpa’s.

One of Those Hideous Books Where the Mother Dies by Sonya Sones

fivestars.jpg Ruby’s mother dies, and she’s forced to fly all the way out to L.A. to live with her movie star father whom she’s never met before.  This book is definitely one of my favorites.  It kept me reading and related to some problems dealing with girls our age.

Babe and Me by Dan Gutman

fivestars.jpg

This book is about a kid who goes back in time and meets Babe Ruth, but there he meets some people that do bad things. I thought that this book was another amazing book by Dan Gutman and I hope to read more.
