No Talking by Andrew Clements

June 25, 2008

No Talking by Andrew Clements was an extremely good book.  When I graded it I gave it an A.  The book was about a contest (boys against girls) to see who could talk the least in the two days.  I really liked the whole premise, I think it is very interesting.  Another good part is at the end when Lynsey (the lead female) said exactly 27 words, 15 seconds before the contest ended to even up the score which would mean Dave (the lead male) wouldn’t have to have a big L wrriten on his forehead.  I thought that was very clever of Lynsey and kind.  This book would be good for anyone who likes to hear about interesting things children do.  So read No Talking by Andrew Clements.

The Report Card by Andrew Clements

fourstars.jpg  There is a girl and her name is Nora, she has bad grades.  She has a friend who is a boy and his name is Stephen.  She is really smart, but she does not want to show it in her personality.  When she was little she could read and write but she did not tell anyone.  After she got her report card, she would have to show it to her parents and family members.  It was okay at first, but then once you keep on reading and it gets way better.  I loved this book and very much enjoyed it.

Things not Seen by Andrew Clements

fivestars.jpg  In February, a boy named Bobby went invisible, his family was trying to figure out what was wrong, but then his parents got into a car crash.  This was a good book, because it tells how some people helped him.

fourstars.jpg This book is about a really smart who tries to prove that tests don’t mean anything. I thought it was a really good book. I would like it better if it had a little more action.

fourstars.jpg There is the main charachter, Nora, who was secretly a genious and doesnt want anybody to know. She has a plan to make kids not care about grades. This book was better than average and you would like it if you were solving word problems.
